Youth Development Trainings

RCORP-ETC has produced several trainings that support and promote healthy youth development. Training materials, including PowerPoints and videos, are available below and a printable summary of all our available training materials can be found here.

Empowerment in Youth Programming

This training provides participants with an overview of characteristics and the importance of using empowerment in youth programming. Participants learn various strategies to incorporate empowerment into programs and how to use them effectively. View the PowerPoint of the training here.

Online Programming for Early Adolescents

This training provides participants with various developmentally appropriate strategies, tools, and activities for engaging early adolescents in online learning. Participants gain a deeper understanding of common behaviors online and how these align with typical adolescent development. View the PowerPoint of the training here.

Ages and Stages Training Series

The Ages and Stages Training Series includes two sessions for professionals and parents working with youth who serve in the Project HOPE 10-county area. The first session identifies characteristics of typical adolescent development. The second session focuses on developmentally appropriate parenting strategies to promote youth development. Recruitment for Youth Programs

This training provides information about how to effectively recruit for youth programs including volunteers, parents, and youth themselves. Participants learn how to identify their recruitment objectives, how to create and distribute recruitment materials, and strategies for in-person and online recruitment. Real Tools for Real Challenges

This training provides participants with an overview of adolescent brain development as well as strategies and tools adults can use to aid in the cognitive, social, and emotional development of adolescents. View the PowerPoint of the training here.

Brain Development, Trauma, and Resilience for Young People

This training provides youth worker participants with information on brain development and how adverse childhood experiences (ACE’s) impact development. Participants also learn strategies to help build trauma-informed resilience in youth. Both the PowerPoint and a recording of the training are available.

Adolescence and COVID-19

This training provides participants with information on changes and challenges of adolescent development during COVID-19 pandemic and the impact of COVID-19 on adolescent physical and mental health. Participants will also learn how to mitigate the negative effects of COVID-19 and promote healthy adolescent development. The training PowerPoint is available.

Youth-Centered Community Engagement Training

This training provides participants with information on key aspects of youth engagement, social change related to youth engagement, and adults’ role in centering youth voice and input. Participants will also learn how to identify outcomes of authentic youth engagement. The training PowerPoint is available.

Youth HOPE Online Development Trainings

The Youth Development Trainings are aimed at ensuring youth-led success for Youth HOPE, a program aimed at helping at-risk youth develop and implement strategies to address opioid use disorder. These online training sessions will help you highlight and solidify key concepts that you can take with you as you continue your work with Youth HOPE. In total, there are seven online trainings to watch with an evaluation survey attached to each one. Each of the seven online trainings range from 15-20 minutes. View the seven session series here.
